www.blog.us.com/ grew out of a domain brokerage, not a content calendar. For years, our day job was buying, valuing, and selling domain names for clients who ranged from patient investors to founders who'd waited too long and needed a name yesterday.
Brokering domains for long enough teaches you a specific kind of skepticism. You watch companies pay six figures for a perfect domain and then build a three-second-load-time website on it. You watch someone haggle a broker down four thousand dollars on a domain and then blow ten times that on a rebrand nobody asked for. The domain was never the bottleneck. Almost nothing else about the business is optional.
Why We Got Into Technology
We got tired of handing over a great domain and watching what happened to it next. So we started doing the next part too: technical SEO, site performance, and the unglamorous engineering work that decides whether a good domain turns into a good business or just an expensive one.
It’s the same skill, honestly. Domain valuation is pattern recognition applied to a market that lies to itself constantly. So is figuring out why a client’s beautifully rebranded site loads like it’s 2009.
What We Actually Do
- Domain brokering & appraisal — buying, selling, and putting a real number on domains, not an automated guess.
- Technical SEO & site performance — the engineering work most agencies skip.
- Naming & domain strategy for startups — before the trademark filing, not after.
- This publication — everything we’ve learned, written down, without the sales pitch.
Why This Blog Exists
Most content in this industry is written by people selling something in the same paragraph. Appraisal companies publish guides that conveniently justify using their appraisal tool. Registrars publish trend reports that conveniently point at extensions they sell.
We’re not doing that here. Nobody on this team gets a bonus for the opinions in these articles. When something in the domain or web industry is mostly marketing dressed up as insight, we’re going to say so, including when it’s uncomfortably close to our own business model.
